WHERE LIVING YOUR Best Life IS A PHILOSPHY
RELATIONSHIPS ARE THE FOUNDATION FOR A CARING ENVIORMENT
The Green House model is on building relationships and the deep knowing of the Elders. Relationships are the foundation for good care for the Elders and for developing strong teams within the Green House homes. Deep knowing and an organization rooted in relationships do not happen by accident. It happens when we make a choice to get to know one another and listen to each other.
SPEAKING TO THE NEEDS OF ELDERS WITH DEMENTIA
In addition to the application of the Green House core values, Best Life is a philosophy of The Green House Project that envisions a home where people living with dementia are recognized for their strengths and talents and supported to live meaningful lives.
The Green House (GH) Project recognizes that over 80% of Elders living in the Green House Homes (GHH’s) have some degree of cognitive changes, just as in most other types of senior living communities across the country. It is often the primary reason that people leave their own homes and move into GHH’s.

With the acknowledgement that the majority of Elders were living with cognitive changes, Green House Project (GHP) wanted to establish an intentional program that spoke to the needs of Elders living with dementia (ELWD) and engage team members in culture change and innovative methods to best partner with these Elders.
The BEST LIFE Approach was developed to help all of us better support the ELWD in our GHH’s
Best Life was created to support Green House team members to redefine the culture of the home, identify and address our own perceptions and biases related to Elders living with dementia (ELWD) and to fully leverage the power of Green House core values to support ELWD.
